Marble Painting Activity

This was a fun project that encourages bilateral skills (use of 2 hands together), eye-hand coordination, visual tracking and sequencing the steps to a task.  To do marble painting, you will need the following:

  • a box top (the top of a copy paper box works great) or a box flat (like you would get cans/bottles of soda/pop in)
  • marbles
  • tempera paints
  • poster board or another type of thicker paper
*We marble painted on a cut out of an Easter egg, but you could substitute any cut out to do your marble painting on.
  1. Trace your shape on poster paper and cut out.
  2. Tape the cut out onto the bottom of your box top so it doesn't slide around
  3. Squeeze dots of various colors of tempera paint onto your cut out

   4. Add several marbles to the box top

     5. Hold the box with 2 hands, and roll the marbles around
so that they go through the paint and leave paint
         trails on the cut out
